Wrexham Science Festival
Bloodhound Experience Wrexham
We were delighted to welcome the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car team to Glyndŵr University in Wrexham on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 November, for an exclusive Wrexham Science Festival spin-off event.
A full-scale prototype of the car, which is being designed to run at speeds of up to 1,050mph and will attempt to break the land speed record in South Africa next year, was available to view in the University's Performance Car Workshop.
A series of educational presentations and workshops were held across the two days for primary and secondary schools, as well as sessions for FE students and for Glyndŵr University’s Performance Car and Motorsport students.
The Bloodhound Project’s director Richard Noble OBE, himself a land speed record holder between 1983 and 1997, gave a public lecture about the project to a packed out William Aston Hall on Wednesday evening.
A special event for businesses was held on Thursday morning, and featured a presentation by Rocket Scientist Daniel Jubb, whose hybrid rockets, designed especially for the Bloodhound car, are being manufactured here in Wrexham.
Thanks so much to our partners, sponsors and supporters, in particular Glyndŵr University, Techniquest Glyndŵr, Glyndŵr Innovations, Yale College, Barloworld Handling Ltd. and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
