Measuring Sea Levels in the Southern Oceans

The Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory has been measuring sea levels in the Southern Oceans for over twenty years. This presentation will focus on the methods used and the challenges involved in obtaining these measurements in extreme environments.

Geoff Hargreaves is an Electronics Engineer in the Ocean Engineering Group at the Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory. He has been involved in making sea level measurements in the Southern Oceans since 1993, has travelled to remote islands in the Southern Atlantic, and has also visited Antarctica twelve times.

This event is suitable for all ages.
